I currently practice therapy in Austin, TX and train therapists in the craft of therapy. I have a passion for theory development, including the development of an comprehensive therapy framework that integrates our understanding of a wide variety of therapy approaches, and a philosophy of human nature that integrates concepts of form and function in a variety of domains.
In the past I have developed interpersonal meditation, consisting of a series of sustained eye contact exercises. I wrote and published an article on the holistic nature of the self for the non-partisan Journal of Ayn Rand Studies. And for several years I ran a quirky workshop/social-event in Los Angeles about boundaries, assertiveness, and affection called Cuddle Party.
I earned my masters degree at St. Edwards University (where I wrote this ethics paper that finds inspiration in an unusually dark theme, and this research proposal about interpersonal meditation), and years before that I earned my bachelors degree at Antioch University Los Angeles. I also spent two years working in a psychiatric setting in Los Angeles, for Didi Hirsch.
My favorite authors in the field are Irvin Yalom, Nancy McWilliams, and Nathaniel Branden. I've also been significantly influenced by Moshe Feldenkrais, Alexander Lowen, and Milton Erickson. These are just highlights; I find my field rich in history and that almost everyone in it of historical note has something of value to offer.
Career aims in psychology include to do as much good therapy as I can, to further develop an integral therapy framework integrating the wisdom of my field's rich history, and to set forth philosophic ideas to help us live in more fulfilling ways both individually and with each other.
